Mr Claydon is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon and was a fully qualified General Surgeon before sub-specialising in vascular surgery. He completed his undergraduate training in medicine, and Bachelor in Medical Science at Monash University, and completed his training rotations in both Australia and England.
Mr Claydon currently works at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne which treats a wide range of complex vascular conditions. He also works at Cabrini and Epworth Hospitals. He treats a wide range of vascular conditions including trauma and renal transplantation.
In partnership with Mr Greg Malham, he has developed a specialty interest in anterior approaches for spinal surgery and has extensive experience and expertise in this area.

What do you like about your work?
This work affords Mr Claydon the opportunity to utilise his experience and skills learned in general surgery, transplant surgery and vascular surgery as part of a team, that helps restore the lifestyles of patients impacted by back pain.

What do you like doing when you’re not working/in surgery?
Cycling, reading, pilot training.
What inspires you?
A family member was crippled by lumbar spine pathology and Greg’s team was able to give them back their family life and lifestyle with lumbar disc surgery. Mr Claydon has experienced the process first hand from the ‘other side of the fence’, including the anxieties and concerns but also the transformative results.
