Dr. Fiona Chow
MBBS, FRACP, PhD
Fiona Chow is a consultant physician specialising in both general internal medicine and kidney disease. She received basic and specialist physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and subsequently completed a PhD in Medicine at Monash Medical Centre, investigating the cause of diabetic kidney damage. Dr. Chow’s work has been presented at conferences within Australia and internationally.
After 3 years of undertaking laboratory research, Dr. Chow realized that she missed the day to day patient interaction and in 2005 returned to full-time clinical work.
Dr. Chow’s role in the care of Mr Malham’s patients at Epworth Hospital is assessing the patient before and after surgery to ensure adequate pain control and the management o any pre existing medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
Dr. Chow’s services are fully covered by private health insurance, Workcover and DVA. Therefore, there will be no out of pocket expense incurred.
In her spare time, Dr. Chow enjoys playing the piano and reading.
Dr. Marco Bonollo
MBBS (Hons) FRACP
Dr Marco Bonollo graduated from Melbourne’s Monash University with Honours in 1990. He completed his basic physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Middlesex Hospital, London. Subsequently, he undertook advanced training in renal medicine under Prof. Gavin Becker at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Prof. Napier Thomson at The Alfred, gaining his FRACP in 1999.
Dr Bonollo is currently Head of the Disease Management Unit at Bayside Health in Melbourne and Chair of the Australian Disease Management Association. He is a Nephrologist and General Physician. In 2004 he helped found the Australian Disease Management Association as a forum for DM activities across the Australian healthcare sector and is currently the Chair of its Advisory Committee. His clinical interests are the prevention & management of acute renal failure and ortho-geriatric medicine.
