Brief Biography

Dr Bryan Lashansky has been working as a specialist anaesthetist for the last 28 years. He is currently a senior anaesthetist in full time private practice in Melbourne since 2015. He qualified from the University of Witwatersrand and received his specialist training from the College of Medicine in South Africa in 1989. He worked extensively in the field of anaesthetics in South Africa before joining the anaesthetic department of The Royal Melbourne Hospital as a senior consultant in 1998, initially on a full time basis and then continued as a part time senior consultant. At present, he holds an honorarium position at Royal Melbourne Hospital.


He has experience in all areas of anaesthesia; his areas of interest include vascular anaesthesia, neuro-anaesthesia, orthopaedic anaesthesia, geriatric anaesthesia, sleep apnoea and the teaching of students, nursing staff and registrars.


He is also currently an active member of multiple Epworth Hospital committees, including: the Critical Care Committee, the Anaesthetic Advisory Committee, and the Theatre Committee. He is also a member of the Albert Street Anaesthetic Group and the Australian and American Society of Anaesthetists. He has lectured at national congresses on vascular anaesthesia and cosmetic and reconstructive anaesthesia. He also attends multiple meetings and congresses on a regular basis, both locally and internationally, to keep up to date with best evidence based practice.
