Brief Biography

Dr Eugene Cohen is a Specialist Anaesthetist, having completed specialist training and was admitted to the Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 1999. He was then admitted to the Fellowship of the Joint Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine in 2002 as a Specialist Intensivist.


He is currently chairman and partner of Anaesthetic Services, in which there are 38 Anaesthetists, and works at multiple private hospitals including Cabrini, Epworth Private Group, St Vincent’s Private Group, Waverly Private, Glen Iris and Glen Eira Day Surgery.


In addition, Dr Cohen has also completed a Business Administration Masters Degree at Monash University, Melbourne, in 1992.


What do you like about your work?
Dr Cohen, feels very privileged to be able to care for patients during a stressful time when presenting for surgery. As an Anaesthetist, he says he has a very special role in alleviating stress and assuring patients they will have a safe, comfortable and pain-free experience.


What do you like most about working with Mr Malham and this team?
Mr. Malham’s team is a very inclusive, efficient and cohesive environment, where all members of the team are focused on patient care and patient outcome. We all respect one another and work very closely together.


What do you like doing when you’re not working/in surgery?
Dr Cohen’s most important passion in his life is his wife and children.

What inspires you?
“…I feel it’s very important to be inspired by a balanced lifestyle. This incorporates caring about the people close to you and those in which you come into contact with while pursuing multiple interests such as sports, arts, food and studies…”
