ABOUT DR Josh


Biography

Dr Hargrove graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 1996. He completed his internship and residency training at the Austin Hospital (ARMC). He trained as a specialist anaesthetist through the Royal Melbourne Hospital training program becoming a fellow of the College of Anaesthetists in 2006.


He has an extensive private anaesthesia practice encompassing many surgical speciality areas. His current areas of practice include: anaesthesia for anterior and posterior spinal surgery (including complex cases with vascular surgical involvement as well as 3D image guidance and also minimally invasive surgery), neurosurgery, complex maxillofacial surgery (including temporomandibular joint replacement and difficult airway management), orthopaedic surgery and complex urologic surgery such as cystectomy or robotic cancer surgery.


What do you like about your work/do you have a particular area of expertise? 

I like working in a team environment with a strong focus on patient care. I am very interested in applied physiology and pharmacology as well as the application of new technology in the advancement of patient care.


What do you like most about working with Mr Malham and this team? 

It is great to work in a stable team environment, this enables the best patient care. Mr Malham strives for the best outcomes for his patients.


What do you like doing when you’re not working/in surgery? 

I enjoy having fun with my family, travelling, reading, computer programming and design.


What inspires you?

I am inspired by the constant development of new techniques and equipment to advance patient care and outcomes. I feel it is important to contribute to this in the form of teaching and research.
