Brief Biography
Dr Penberthy has experience in research and undergraduate teaching at Monash University, Melbourne. He has extensive experience in anaesthesia, for over 30 years, working in Africa, the UK, New Zealand and Australia. In 2000, Dr Penberthy commenced private practice in Melbourne and has worked with Mr Malham since 2001.
What do you like about your work/do you have a particular area of expertise?
Even after 30 years of anaesthetic practice, Dr Penberthy still looks forward to going to work every day. Ongoing developments in anaesthesia, as well as different daily challenges make for an interesting and stimulating work environment.
He has a special interest in Neuroanaesthesia.
What do you like most about working with Mr Malham and this team?
“I never stop learning and striving to provide the best result for our patients.
Being part of this team, with neurosurgeon Mr Malham and the other specialist consultants, means we can achieve this goal”.
What do you like doing when you’re not working/in surgery?
During his free time he enjoys cooking, and particularly eating out where the cooking is done for him. For Dr Penberthy, “A good break from work means I can always return feeling refreshed”.
